A trademark is the possession of the identity of a company. In today’s competitive world it is extremely essential to protect the identity that includes the brand name, logo, brand mark, typeface etc. Duplicate brand names, replica of a logo, substitute brand mark etc have become common today. Obtaining a trademark can help a company protect itself against such illegal activities and safeguard its name and identity. A trademark is legally registered. Once registered it falls under the intellectual property rights. Every company must trademark their name and brand to avoid any malpractice or future legal complications arising out of duplicity of the name or logo.
Under the Intellectual Property Law, the Trade Mark in the UAE is registered under the UAE Federal Law No. 37 of 1992.
